Last week their were a couple of rumors spread over the OCM World, it said that a big Danish team was trying to hook up with Filippus Sijmonds. Later on the manager of Sijmonds explained the situation.
“Well, we all know that Sijmonds wasn’t on the transfer table or the management of Toma Pro CST was trying to sell him but we were in far going negotiations with a Danish team. It all ended with the fact that Filippus wasn’t able to bring any domestiques with him. The price was still negotiable but this was the biggest factor.”
Sijmonds is aiming for a result in the Volta a Porto and for that he needs some teammates which can bake him up. The event is within 30 days but Filippus is already well prepared, he trained enough and just got a 6th place in Mexico. Now he is going to get some rest to ride a few races and some on practice to be in a top shape in Portugal.
At the moment the team is back in the Netherlands for the Nederlandse Tour. Batenburg is obvious our captain but we just hope for a top 9 spot in one of the stages and maybe a nice result in the TT from Italian Guerini. We don’t expect much their because of the lack of flat and time trial skills from Lowie.
After the Nederlandse Tour, Veldkamp will go on a training camp so he is going to be a great domestique for Sijmonds. Maybe if the money is right he will be maximized by then…
